Electronics

In the electronics industry, industrial automation is critical to improving precision, efficiency and quality in production processes, supporting the growing demand for advanced technology products.

Our company is able to design and develop robotic islands and automation solutions for multiple uses in this sector:

Assembly of printed circuit boards (PCB)

Robots are designed to pick up and place electronic components, such as resistors, capacitors, microchips and other devices on PCB boards. This process requires very high precision, managed through advanced vision systems to ensure accurate positioning. After placement, robots perform wave soldering, reflow soldering or selective soldering to attach components to the board. Selective welding, in particular, allows to weld specific points with extreme precision, avoiding damage to other parts of the circuit. Finally, after assembly and welding, robots can use machine vision systems to check the quality of connections and verify that there are no defects or errors in assembly.

Functional Testing and Verification (ICT)

The robots are designed to perform electrical tests on completed printed circuit boards. These tests verify the functionality of each component and the integrity of electrical connections. Some electronic components are subjected to “burn-in” tests, where they are exposed to stress conditions (such as high temperatures) for a prolonged period. The robots manage the positioning of devices in the ovens and their removal after the test. Robots and cobots are designed for functional testing on finished products, simulating the use of the device to make sure all features work properly before shipping.

Handling of Sensitive Components

In the production of miniaturised devices, such as microchips and mobile device components, robots are designed to handle precisely those components that are too small or delicate to be handled manually, or for the assembly of LCD screens, OLED and touch screen, ensuring they are mounted without air bubbles and with a perfect alignment.

Wrapping and packaging

At the end of the production chain, robots are used to pack electronic devices, sealing and labelling packages. In addition, robot palletisers arrange products packed on pallets for shipping, applying identification labels to the products, often containing bar codes or QR codes for traceability. They may also integrate quality control systems to verify that the labelling is correct and legible.

Quality Inspection and Visual Control

Robots and cobots are equipped with integrated artificial vision systems and perform detailed visual inspections of components and finished products, detecting defects such as scratches, malformations or assembly errors. If equipped with 3D scanners or measurement sensors, they check that the components comply with the specified dimensional tolerances.

Semiconductor manufacturing

In semiconductor manufacturing, robots and cobots are designed to manipulate silicon wafers during the manufacturing process, which includes several steps such as lithography, material deposition and engraving. After the semiconductors have been cut from wafers, the robots are sized and programmed to place chips in their end-shells, welding the connections and closing the shell.

The electronics sector is one of the most dynamic and innovative fields for the implementation of robotic islands, cobots, and industrial robots.
